Hi,

Have you used the remove utility?
What I used to do is first remove all the hardware options for this card under the device manager, and then run this utility.
After a reboot PnP (Plug and Pray) the system asks for drivers.
This have always worked ok for me, but I guess i'm a lucky guy.

Little bit of clearing for error message:

At first:

CS32BA11.DRV
The audio driver did not load because the device is in use.

After that *crash*:
MSGSRV32 caused a General Protection fault error in module CS32BA11.DRV...

No luck with remove & reinstall....

Hi,
This CS32BA11.DRV is the Crystal Audio Driver. Maybe it's an idea to check if there are still different versions of this driver on your computer (mine is 1.60). Mostly it resides in the windows/system folder or in the ews64 folder (or both). If I remember correctly, the one in the system folder is loaded first, so if THAT's an older version...
The msgsrv32.dll is part of the operating system, so I don't think the problem lies here, unless some other program did something strange with it.
Did you also check the device manager?
Did you disable the codec and forgot to switch it on again before updating?
In the past (with early driver versions) running remove more than once also solved some problems. Anyway, MY latest driver update didn't cause any problems. That doesn't help YOU, but at least you know that it can be done ;-)
Do you have more than one soundcard in the computer? (just an idea...)
Also you can use and check bootlog.txt to see where things go wrong.

Ohno ...

After installing newest drivers, after rebooting computer, W98SE gives message:

CS32BA11.DRV
Cannot load driver, drivers is in use...

No fucking way it's in use, but no more working W98...

IMHO this is starting to piss off... EWS is fine card, but enough is enough!

Now it seems to work.. problem is/was same DMA with SB Live!... Don't know if this helps with my previous problem but at least this is a begin to solve this problem.
